Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning. An exciting, inclusive and forward looking charity, with a clear vision and strategy, we are committed to developing young people through maritime-centred training and activity, alongside delivering learning and career development for professionals across the sector. Every week, throughout the year, our thousands of volunteers inspire young people across the UK, to achieve their potential through challenge and nautical adventure, while we also enable current and future seafarers and maritime professionals, to realise their own potential through learning and self-development.

After the successful tenure of our current Chief Executive, we are looking for an inspirational and inclusive leader to succeed him - one who is passionate about our mission and its capacity to transform the lives of young people and seafarers. Achieving our aims around our offer and our people, will require ambition and broad, strategic leadership capability. Partnering with the Board on the delivery of our current and future strategy, our incoming Chief Executive will lead an experienced and passionate team, on this vital next stage of our development, as well as ensure a positive, dynamic and inclusive culture engagement with our many volunteers, stakeholders, and supporters.

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience of developing and delivering strategy, for a complex, scaled, federated or multi-faceted organization in the charitable, public or commercial sector of the UK. They will bring demonstrable experience of building and sustaining trusted, partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and the clear ability to lead engagement with our key and close relationships, including the Royal Navy, to achieve our organisational objectives.

You will bring a track record in creating high performing, safe and secure cultural environments and of advancing progress, in ensuring inclusive practices and promoting diversity. You will also be a strong operational leader, relationship builder and communicator, with high integrity, diplomatic skills, and credibility, alongside a deep commitment to our vision, mission and values.
